No Public Access to Weather Perspective?

WHY IS IT THAT THE DAILY WEATHER REPORTS ON PUBLIC TELEVISION ONLY FOCUS ON WEATHER FOR A RANGE OF ONLY A WEEK?

A weather report....

The limited weather picture provided the public allows them to decide whether to carry an umbrella while walking, or perhaps carry some sand and shift to snow tires for safe driving.

Scientists provide daily and weekly projections that are reported by “weathermen” and accepted by the public as reliable… but where is the scientific data regarding weather patterns for the past 10 or 50 thousand years… or projections for the next 10, 50 or 100 years?

Dr. Hans-Peter Plag, researcher and lecturer on changing weather and sea level rise resulting from human activity, indicates that although weather patterns have been quite stable for many centuries, projections for the future are that weather patterns are very likely to become unstable, as they were a thousands of years ago.

If the public had access to the best scientific thinking, they could encourage politicians to wake up to their responsibilities for long range planning rather than short term gain, as well as having tools to plan their own lives.
I propose that TV weather presenters take a few minutes to put our weather in perspective. With more public awareness “Katrina-like Disasters” could be anticipated and mitigated.
